If
you want to go shopping in Brussels try the Rue
Neuve Area. It is a well known and heavily
visited pedestrian shopping district in Brussels near
the centre. Here you’ll find numerous European
department stores such as H & M, Mexx, Celio and
so on. There are loads of eating places such as Pannini
Italian-style sandwich places, and luckily coffee
houses to take a break from the hectic shopping. It
is a very crowded area as it is the central shopping
area for Brussels residents as well as the influx
of tourists.
You can pay a visit to the Eglise Notre Dame
du Finistère – an 18th Century
church hovering over the modern mayhem in the streets
below. This is a lovely smaller church with many interesting
features.
There is also the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie
in the area. The theatre got its name from
the old mint which used to be nearby. The Theatre
has a neo-classical front with magnificent columns
and is the best known of Belgian theatres and known
all over the world.
